A warm welcome to the Hanseatic Day in Visby 2025 and
the international youth organisation of the Hanseatic League.
We invite you to a mixed program of physical activities, knowledge and adventures in the Hanseatic Town of Visby.
Arrival and lodging
We welcome all youthHansa delegates to Visby at the lodging in Gustavsvik. The reception will be open to match late arrivals and representatives from the Hansa team in Visby will be present to make sure all the youthHansa delegates gets a warm welcome and are well informed regarding the lodging. We will answer all possible questions to make the youthHansa delegates feel comfortable and at home for their stay during the Hanseatic Day.
Gustavsvik is a facility of lodging close to the Visby city centre where the area of most of the activities for the Hanseatic Day will take part. Gustavsvik is beautifully located close to a sandy beach and the Baltic Sea. A bicycle track connects Gustavsvik to Visby city centre and it is a 10 minutes bike ride to get to the Almedalen Park where the mainstage of the Hanseatic Day is located. All youthHansa delegates will be provided with their own bike during their stay at Gustavsvik.
The youthHansa delegates will be accommodated in apartments for eight guests with four spacious double bed bedrooms, fully equipped and modern kitchen, social areas and spacious dining room table, separate veranda for every apartment furnished with outside lounge groups. Separate shower and toilet in the apartment.
Breakfast will be supplied in each apartment at the Gustavsvik with breakfast groceries in fridges and in cabinets in each kitchen.
Gustavsvik locations and grounds provide a wide range of activities; Table tennis, Beach volleyball, Boules court and even a football field. The beach is just a minute away!
City maps of suitable sightseeing spots will be available.

Thursday June 5th
– Opening ceremony and kick-off for the Hanseatic Day
After being settled in, we gather all the youthHansa delegates at Gustavsvik for a welcoming meet and greet to provide a short information brief of the schedule for the coming evening and days, and an introduction to the Visby Hansa team.
Thereafter the youthHansa delegates jumps on their bikes and we ride together to the restaurant Joda in the Visby harbour. Yummy food like pinsa pizza, sliders and mini tacos will be served. During dinner, we will get to know each other and the youthHansa representatives from the Hanseatic Commission will make a presentation.
After dinner, we will together make a short walk up to the Cathedral of Sankta Maria. The opening ceremony parade will start there and end up in Almedalen Park where we will enjoy the opening ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, the youthHansa regroup by the bikes, and head back to Gustavsvik, where we will finish our day by the campfire, grilling Marshmallows at Gustavsvik Beach.

Friday June 6th
– The National day of Sweden and a mix of activities
After breakfast, we start our day with a walk around Visby town, divided into smaller groups. Each group will take part in the contest “Who knows most about Visby”. A quiz developed especially for the Hanseatic Day for youth to learn more about the old Hanseatic Town of Visby. Of course, a grand price is to expect for the winning team!
For lunch, we visit the Hanseatic Market located around Almedalen, where the youthHansa delegates will get a chance to choose freely from the food court street with a whole range of different food trucks that serve delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, we will divide into groups of different activities, amongst them the possibility to visit a high ropes course, climbing over the treetops. A tour at a Gotlandic entrepreneur collective. Alternatively, an exciting workshop introducing the local development projects for the hospitality industry on Gotland.
After the exciting afternoon, we will gather again as a whole group at Gustavsvik and take part in a workshop together with the University of Campus Gotland, where we will discuss the subject of mental well-being together with a local research team. The thoughts of the youthHansa delegates will be included in the research of an internationally ground breaking project regarding mental well-being of young people.
As evening falls, we will make a short trip by bike to attend the grand finale of the day with a pool party and enjoy a lovely BBQ buffet by the beach.
Saturday June 7th
– youhtHansa assembly and Hanse party
Directly after breakfast the youthHansa delegates will attend the youthHansa assembly that will proceed until the early afternoon with a short lunchbreak. The meeting will take place in Visby town, very close to the Hanseatic Market and Almedalen Park.
In the afternoon, the delegates of the youthHansa will enjoy free time to enjoy the concert program in Almedalen Park and of course the Hanseatic Market. Alternatively, explore Visby town with its lovely sights and shopping, or use the bikes to explore the surrounding areas of Visby.
At 9pm, the magnificent Hanse party starts at St Nicolai ruin in the heart of the Hanseatic Town of Visby. Delicious food, music and dancing until late for all delegates.

Sunday June 8th
Unfortunately, all good things comes to an end. The youthHansa delegates that leaves on Sunday will use the morning for packing and leaving the Gustavsvik, after enjoying one last enriching breakfast. In the afternoon, there will be free time to enjoy the Visby town and the Hanseatic Market before we all take part of the end ceremony of the Hanseatic Day in Visby.
We will offer the possibility to a voluntary small midday activity with a guided tour of the Cathedral of Sankta Maria, and the tale of the old Hanseatic Coffin of Sankt Peter.
We hope we are fortunate to welcome the youthHansa delegates and members from Hanseatic Towns from all over Europe to experience the lovely Hanseatic Town of Visby, making new friends and creating lifelong memories together!
